Peace Festival for the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit

Seoul, South Korea- On the 18th, at Seoul Jamsil Olympics Stadium, the Peace Festival for the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit -- hosted by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL, Chairman Man Hee Lee), the International Women’s Peace Group (IWPG, Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim) and the International Peace Youth Group (IPYG, Director Du Hyen Kim) – was opened. About 1,000 former president, international law experts, current nation’s ministers, religious leaders, youth and women's group leaders from 130 countries filled the stadium to the brim with 100,000 participants in an effort to advocate for the cessation of war and world peace.

The parade, reminiscent of the Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony, proceeded with various themes, countries' national flowers, world traditional dances, royal procession, language masks, etc. Each performer dressed in a variety of costumes and colors according to their theme, and performed various acts like going around the tracks, while the spectators stood up from their seats and danced.

In his commemorative address, Chairman Lee of HWPL said, “Here today at the Peace Festival for the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the WARP Summit, the spirits of heaven and people of the earth are gathered, as well as the eyes, ears, and hearts of the global community. Let us urge them (heads of state and religious leaders) to sign their support for the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War and let us sign our support as well. This is the way to love the world and all the people, like the light, rain, and air of the heavens. This is true politics and true religion; this is true love and peace.”

IWPG Chairwoman Kim said, "To speed up the advancement towards an era of peace, I propose a code of conduct to the global community. First, heads of state around the world should become one for peace and support the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War. Second, all the religions of the world should transcend denominations and doctrines to become one for peace. Third, all women and youth of the world should join the IWPG and IPYG in promoting the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War and urging support for the Declaration. Fourth, peace education should be implemented throughout the world," urging the involvement of all people.

The highlight of the event was the card section performance by 11,440 IPYG youth members. Their performance was the outcome of roughly 5 months of sweat-stained efforts in scorching weather combined with a genuine longing for peace that resulted in all the spectators being moved to tears

One of the youth volunteers of the card sections, Min Ji Song, said, "Many of the card section participants were able to be gathered by their efforts for achieving peace. I hope this kind of heart can become a seed planted in the hearts of people and inspire a sincerity for pace.” She said she wants to give hope to all the people in the world who have suffered from wars and conflicts.

The performance was split into 3 scenes: the history and pain of world wars I and II, the peace activities of HWPL for the cessation of war, and the peaceful unification of the two Koreas, all seeking for peace. The IPYG card section, even from an artistic perspective, received much interest and became a trademark of the WARP Summit.

The distinct figures’ admiration for HWPL's peace work, pouring out congratulations for the 2nd Annual WARP Summit

Former President of the Republic of Croatia Ivo Josipović said, "The HWPL Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War and all the great peace efforts of HWPL representatives are an important contribution to the peace movement in the world. The Declaration, delivered not only to the political leaders of many countries, but to the wide public as well, has increased the awareness of the need for urgent action to stop wars and build peace around the globe.”

In addition Tep Vong, The Great Supreme Patriarch of the Kingdom of Cambodia delivered a congratulatory message, “I hope that the WARP Summit this year will give everyone more peace and happiness, love-kindness, compassion, tolerance, non-violence, and more strength and give more determination to live and promote peace, happiness and harmony in their daily life in their own family, society, and the world.”

The event was from the 17th~19th and all sessions took place in the Samsung Grand Intercontinental Hotel. On the 17th, Governmental, religions, law-making, and civil groups gathered in each area and participated in the advocacy forums.

Conference for the Implementation of

the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War

On September 19th, marking the last day of its three-day journey to peace during the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the September 18th WARP Summit, the “Conference for the Implementation of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War” was held by Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) in Seoul, South Korea.

Approximately 1,000 guests from 130 countries, consisting of not only State leaders, such as former presidents and prime ministers as well as current ministers, but also experts in the field of international law, UN officials, religious leaders and international press members, took part in the conference.

During his keynote speech, HWPL Chairman Man Hee Lee proclaimed, “The Declaration that we drafted is a new legal framework that can bring about the cessation of war and world peace. Prime ministers and chief justices together with the National Assembly of each nation must acknowledge the value and principles of the DPCW and propel and support the development process of the DPCW. If we do it, it is possible. If we don’t do it, it won’t happen,” repeatedly reminding all the people in governmental affairs and legal experts of the significance of the legislation of the law for peace.

IWPG Chairwoman Nam Hee Kim said, “We ask the chiefs of state, judges and the United Nations to work together for advocacy of the international law for cessation of war. Also, we ask ministers of states to give the message of peace and work with governments to advocate and implement the international law. People from all walks of life are working for peace; organizations and schools are providing peace education and women and youth are taking the lead in protecting themselves. When the public voice in advocacy of the adoption of the international law becomes greater, the power of peace transcending national interest will also be greater. Your actions today will be an exemplary model of respect for future generations and become the everlasting light recorded in heaven.”

Speakers representing various sectors of the audience, such as governments, civil organizations, youth, women and religions, presented their roles as well as concrete action plans to develop the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW) and implement it as an enforceable law. It provided a platform for participants to reaffirm their responsibilities to advocate for the DPCW, thus bringing about peace and cessation of war.

Seyed Reza Hosseini Nassab (Grand Ayatollah of Canada) “The world with peace is the paradise, and with war is the Hell. The foundation of peace shall be built on the important principles, such as: education, tolerance, mercy, equality, morality, religious freedom and justice. To reach this heavenly goal, we need an enforceable law, such asthe Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War, which shall be approved and supported by all religious leaders in the world”

H.E. Karim Khalili, Senior Deputy of Afghanistan High Peace Council and Former Vice President said, ”It is obvious that achieving sustainable peace is not an easy and simple task. We have to go through several political, legal, cultural, economic, managerial, psychological, religious aspects, at national and international levels so that we achieve this human idea and wish. Procedures among world nations for achieving peace that have been experienced can help us in this regard. “Declaration of peace and ending war” that has been prepared by HWPL, is considered one of the efficient, useful and valuable procedures for achieving peace and ending war.

Prof. Carlos Villán Durán, President of The Spanish Society for International Human Rights Law emphasized the collaboration and participation of civic society and governmental organizations to develop the Declaration into a legally binding document. He said, “The DPCW provides positive elements to foster the dialogue and reconciliation among religions.” He then added, “We have also learnt that international law and multilateral institutions must be more efficient to peacefully settling conflicts and to better address legitimate demands for justice and the right of peoples to self-determination”

On the 17th, experts in the fields of politics, religions, law and civil society, according to their sectors, participated in sessions, a total of 8 different forums, and proceeded to discuss practical approaches to implement the international law compatible with the DPCW proclaimed on March 14th. They arrived at efficient means to support the document utilizing various methods.

On the 18th, the outdoor event at Jamsil Olympic Main Stadium deeply touched all in attendance through the entrance ceremony, which colorfully portrayed diverse and traditional cultures of Korea and the world, and the card section performance ‘War and Peace’, performed by 11,440 youths. This outdoor peace event demonstrated to the world the exemplary culture of peace and presented opportunities to experience such culture.

The ‘Conference for the Implementation of Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War’ walked through the overall progress made during the 2nd Annual Commemoration of the September 18th WARP Summit. Everything drawn from each session is expected to yield a practical result through international peace networks and support formed during the Summit.
